Why developing renewable energy sources is a must

1) The term "renewable energy" is not new to all of us. We know that renewable energy like solar, wind, biomass, and hydroelectric energy are better and more efficient compare to non-renewable energy like coal, petroleum and natural gas.

2) But there is a hard truth when it comes to developing renewable energy, the cost of making those solar panel, wind turbines and building those hydroelectric dam is simply too high.

3) The price of crude oil rose to all-time high last year June (which is $147). This is good because it forced energy companies to switch focus to generate electric power from solar panels and wind turbines. Unfortunately, the price of crude oil fall to around $40 now. This will slow down the development and progress of renewable energy.

4) According to Infoplease.com, the world's population in the year 1950 is 2.55 billion. As of February 2009, world's population is estimated to be 6.75 billion. The significant increase in world's population is due to several reasons. The advancement in science and technology has saved many life. Besides that, the healthcare system also enabled poor to receive healthcare service. Therefore, the demand for electricity will be overwhelming. People are using electricity in many ways, such as to power Air-Conditioner, light up the light bulb, and using the water heater. If we want to make sure energy production can match energy consumption, we have to commit ourselves to developing clean energy instead of increase our dependence on fossil fuel.
